The menú del día in Barcelona costs €16.90 at the median. That is not an estimate: it comes from the menus that 276 restaurants in the city publish on Appetece, with their price and dishes, updated on 8 October 2026. It is more than the figure usually quoted for Catalonia, and the gap between neighbourhoods reaches €7 per menu.
At 20 lunches a month, that is a €140 difference depending on where you work. Here is the picture, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.

The most common band is €15 to €17. The average sits almost €2 above the median because a tail of chef-driven lunch menus, at €25 to €40, drags it up. That is why we use the median: it tells you what most people pay.

Sants-Montjuïc is the cheapest district for a menú del día, and the only one with a median below €15. At the other end, Ciutat Vella and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi come close to €18.50.

We only show neighbourhoods with at least 8 restaurants in the sample. With fewer, a median depends too much on a couple of places.

The surprise is an Eixample split in two: the Dreta, the area of offices and Passeig de Gràcia, charges €4.60 more than the Antiga Esquerra, on the other side of Carrer de Balmes. And the Gòtic is the most expensive neighbourhood in the city for a menú del día, ahead of Sant Gervasi.
What about El Raval, Poble-sec, Sants or Sant Antoni? They have menús del día, often cheap ones, but there are still too few restaurants publishing theirs with a price to give a reliable median. You can see today's menus in El Raval, Poble-sec, Sants and Sant Antoni.
Where to find a €10 or €12 menu
Almost nowhere. Only 28 of the 276 restaurants (10%) charge less than €13, and 20 of those 28 belong to five pizza and burger chains. The €10 home-cooked menu that still appears in many guides is now the exception, not the rule.
What there is plenty of is the €15 to €17 menu: more than one in four restaurants sits in that band.

How to pay less for a menú del día in Barcelona
- Change neighbourhood, not quality. Between the Dreta and the Antiga Esquerra de l'Eixample there is a €4.60 gap in the median, and barely 500 metres.
- Look at the next district over. Sants-Montjuïc and Sant Martí are €2 or €3 below Ciutat Vella.
- Compare before you head out. On Appetece you can see each restaurant's menu for today, with price and dishes, and choose before you move.

How we calculate it
- Source: the menús del día that Barcelona restaurants publish on Appetece, with their price, between February and October 2026: 1,775 menus from 276 restaurants.
- Median per restaurant: first we calculate each restaurant's typical price, then the median across all of them. That way a place that publishes its menu every day doesn't weigh more than one that publishes it once.
- Excluded from the sample: prices below €8 and above €40, which aren't menús del día.
- Neighbourhoods: the official ones defined by Barcelona City Council, based on each restaurant's address.
